Boston Big Local has recently awarded £500 of Community Chest funding to Jerry Green Dog Rescue. The funding will be used to support the Fan Fare Big Band event which is being organised by the charity, to be held on 22 July at Blackfriars Theatre.
The event aims to raise money for Jerry Green Dog Rescue through the ticket sales and also a silent auction that will be held on the night. The evening will feature two musical sets by the Fan Fare Big Band, whose services have kindly been donated to the charity by musical director Gordon Grant. There will also be a drinks reception and a silent auction, with the prizes being provided by local businesses, giving local residents an opportunity to bid for some fantastic deals on the night.
The £500 of funding from Boston Big Local has helped Jerry Green Dog Rescue to cover the costs of hosting the event – which means that every penny raised on the night will be able to go towards helping dogs in need.
Jerry Green Dog Rescue is a local dog rescue centre in Algakirk that provides a service to Boston residents. The charity has a total of five centres in the east of England and, together, the centres have managed to rehome 1,000 dogs in the last year alone.
As well as rehoming dogs, the charity is also developing new services such as secure field hire, dog grooming and behaviour training. The charity also offers volunteering opportunities for Boston residents, giving them a chance to train and get practical experience in animal care. This year the South Lincolnshire centre is celebrating it’s 20th birthday with the launch of a fundraising campaign to raise £200,000 to renovate their kennels. So this event is really important to help them to reach that target.
“Our charity strives to match people to their perfect dog,” said Elizabeth Hempstock, who is the Fundraising and Communications Officer for Jerry Green Dog Rescue’s South Lincolnshire Centre. “We know that the bond that develops between human and dog can influence people’s lives in a very positive way. The companionship of a dog allows people to get out and about on walks, meet people and generally gives them a reason to get up in the morning. We are really excited to host this event for the people of Boston and hope that they will join us in coming together to raise some money for our wonderful dogs”
If your business has a prize they would like to donate to the event to help raise some much needed funds for the dogs, please contact Elizabeth on 07921471578.
Tickets for this event can be purchased from the Blackfriars website or at the box office.
