MarathonSmallBoston Big Local is proud to be the main sponsor of a new marathon in Boston which has been set up to boost the town’s image, promote health and cultural integration, and raise money for charity.

Boston Marathon UK 2016 will take place on Sunday 17 April 2016. The runners will set off at 9am from the starting point at Boston Market Place and finish at Boston College. The full route is available on the Boston Marathon website.

The marathon was set up by Harish Kurup, a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Pilgrim Hospital, and the event is supported by Boston Mayor Richard Austin.

Runners can complete a full or half marathon. For this first year only, there is also a half marathon relay option, where up to 5 team members can run two and a half to three miles each. There are prizes for each category.

Runners are free to choose and raise money for a charity of their own choice.

For details of entry fees and to register online go to www.bostonmarathon.co.uk. The registration deadline is 3 April 2016.

The website also offers useful links to training tips for runners, as well as details of how non-runners can get involved as a volunteer or marshal.
