StayActiveLowResStay active programme

This summer, Boston Big Local funded a programme of fitness and wellbeing activities for older residents in Boston.  The Stay Active course offered a range of mild to moderate exercises, designed to help participants keep their minds and bodies fit and active.

The four week programme was delivered by the Lincolnshire Health Trainer team in the hall at the Centenary Methodist Church in Boston. Participants were given the chance to try a variety of activities, including seated exercises, outdoor gym, Tai Chi, indoor kurling, country dancing and walking football.

The sessions also included talks on subjects affecting older people from organisations such as Age UK, Lincolnshire Credit Union and Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service (CVS).

Health Trainer, Darren Chilvers, who was responsible for delivering the course said: “As well as helping participants to stay active and healthy, the sessions have provided opportunities for people to make new friends and have some fun.  We’ve had some very positive feedback from the residents who took part and we plan to deliver further sessions at the end of November.”
